  • Repairing a Hair System vs Buying A New One

If you are a hair system or toupee wearer, one of the questions eventually will come to mind is if it’s worthwhile to repair it or just get a new hairpiece. Just like your own natural hair, hair pieces need to be maintained to look their best. The older the hair piece, the more maintenance is needed to keep it looking natural.

How long your hair system should last will be determined by how you wear your hair. A casual wearer of a couple of days a week will definitely have a longer lasting hair system compared to a daily wearer.

Taking your hair system off every night compared to full head bonding for a month at a time also extends the life of your hair.

You can always expect hair loss on older hair pieces. It is always a good idea to send in your hair system early for minor repairs such as adding small amount of hair or repairing the base. We can bring your hair back to look natural and you will have a spare unit to wear around the house. A hair system that is well maintained will definitely look better and last

The answer to whether to repair or not to repair boils down is to how much time you can extend your hair system’s life. Too much hair loss, or a rip in the base can sometimes mean that a new system is the logical choice. Before having your unit repaired, take a look at the base
to see if the material is still good. If you see signs that the base material has deteriorated, it probably will not be able to hold additional new hair.

If you are unsure if it’s worth it to repair or replace your hairpiece, you can always send your hair to Click4hair and we would be happy to evaluate and contact you with the best choice for you. Our goal is always to supply you with the best hair system solution.

  • Famous Actors Who’ve Worn a Hair Piece

For some people, their looks are their profession. They need to portray a certain image and hair is a big part of projecting that image. Some of the most famous actors who have dealt with hair loss have worn a hair piece to counter this.

    Sean Connery
There is no more man’s man than 007. Sean Connery was one of the biggest movie stars of the 20th century. First and foremost as James Bond, but there was much more to the Academy Award winning actor, than being a secret agent. He was also in blockbusters such as Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, The Rock and Entrapment. Shaken but not stirred as a result of losing his hair, Connery sought the help of a hairpiece.

    Humphrey Bogart
There was no bigger male star in the 1940s than Humphrey Bogart.
With The Maltese Falcon, Casablanca, The Big Sleep, and Key Largo he starred in some of the biggest movies of the decade. He followed this up with The African Queen, The Caine Mutiny and Sabrina. A man with his alpha-male status needed a full head of hair and so wore a hair piece. Bogart battled health issues for a while and died at the young age of 57.

    Burt Reynolds
What Bogart was in the 1940s, Burt Reynolds was in the 1970s. With Deliverance, The Longest Yard and Smokey and the Bandit he was one of the most dominant sex-symbols of the decade. He suffered from hair loss and so turned to hairpieces as a hair loss solution. It is hard to believe he is almost 80 years old!

    William Shatner
Beam me up Scottie! The captain of the Enterprise is well known for his use of a hairpiece. When not battling Klingons or other alien enemies, Shatner had to find a solution for his hair loss and so turned to a hairpiece. With his self-deprecating sense of humor, he often pokes fun of it.

    Frank Sinatra
Ol’ Blue Eyes was the voice of a generation and he did it his way when it came to all but his hair.  Much like David Beckham, he was renowned for his hair styles which in turn became copied and imitated by men all over the world. While he was most famous for singing, he did have an acting career and won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his part in From Here to Eternity. He also starred in classics such as The Manchurian Candidate.

    Frank 1

    John Wayne
No one symbolized the rugged male hero more than John Wayne. Red River, Sands of Iwo Jima, The Quiet Man, The Searchers, Rio Bravo and the Alamo were all roles that cast him front and center as the hero. As he aged, he wanted to keep acting, but his lack of hair was a problem for his image so he sought the solace of a toupee.

There are plenty of other actors and celebrities who wore a hairpiece. We may have to discuss them in a Part Two.

  • Words from William - My First Blog Post

My name is William and welcome to my first Click4Hair blog post!

I am the owner of and I hope you are enjoying our new blog. It is going to be a source of information regarding hairpieces as well as advice, tips, news regarding hairpieces and other hair loss solutions.

Today more and more people are doing their shopping online and hairpieces are no exception. You will find many companies offering hair systems online and you can save a lot of money and get great deals if you know what to look for.

When you find a website offering hairpieces and toupees that you like and you want to know more about their products and services, one obvious way is to check their feed-backs as well as their guarantees. Here are 3 helpful tips you may not have thought of doing.

    1. Try calling to speak with a representative. Ask questions to see if they are knowledgeable. Any seller who is unable to answer your questions satisfactorily should cause you to wonder about what they can do for you.

    2. If you send them an email or leave them a message and they don't get back to you promptly, you can imagine what it will be like when you place your order with them.

    3. Beware of a seller who tells you that they can sell you a high quality hair system at a very low price. Personally I do not know of any company who can cut corners and still produce a quality product for you.

If you want to take good care of your hair system at home, you can find a lot of information on the web. There are many websites (even on YouTube) showing you how to maintain your hair and sell you products that hair centers use to keep your hair looking good. Cleaning and re-attaching your hair is really not that complicated. Once you’ve done it two to three times, you will be able to master it and do it effortlessly.

In my next few blogs post, I will talk about the different types of human hair, the proper way to match hair color, and how to find the right hair density for you.

If you have any questions, feel free to email me or call us.  So until next time, be good, be healthy and enjoy!
