Washing Your Hair System

Removing your hair system

Here's the method we recommend for removing your hair system. Remember, removing your hair system should also involve prepping it for your next use.

Step 1

If you use a lace front it's easy to damage the base or hair when removing the system. To avoid tearing the base or losing any hair, spray some remover through the hair first to loosen the adhesive before taking the system off.

If you're only taking the system off to change the tape, use an alcohol-based remover such as Walker's Lace Release. If you plan to clean or shampoo the system before wearing it again, you can use a citrus-based product.

Step 2

If you're not using a front lace you can skip step one. However it's always best to remove the system from back to front.

Doing this avoids stretching the front of the hair system.

Step 3

Once you've removed the system gently peel the tape from the base.

With the tape removed, use an alcohol-free citrus solvent to remove any adhesive residue.

We recommend products such as Davlyn's Lan-o-sol remover or Walker's C-22 Solvent.

Step 4

Use a lint-free wipe or tissue paper to remove the adhesive.

Step 5

You may find you still have some adhesive residue remaining. Give the system a thorough cleaning with an alcohol-based cleanser.

Now your system is ready for shampooing or to be worn again.
